As many of us are keenly aware, the new EU regulations on ecodesign and energy labeling went into effect September 1, 2021. All light sources must comply with these new ecodesign requirements. This means that light sources must fulfill stricter minimum requirements with regard to energy efficiency as well as certain quality criteria.
The regulation on the energy labeling of light sources defines new energy efficiency classes and requires registration in the EU Product Database for Energy Labeling (EPREL). This applies to light sources which are placed on the EU market only.
The Xicato team has been working diligently to fulfill the requirements to register Xicato light sources in the EPREL database. We are happy to announce that our most popular products have been registered. These include a variety of XTM, XOB and XIMs.
Due to the scope of the work involved, we don't expect to complete registration for all Xicato products for another few weeks.
Please note that any products purchased from Xicato prior to September 1, 2021 and allocated as inventory is available for sale or use without the newly required energy label until March 1, 2022.
The EU has taken the next major step toward efficient and climate-friendly lighting. Its aim Is to promote the circular economy and provide clear, transparent and standardized information for consumers. The SLR and ELR regulations redefine the sustainability of lighting products and the labeling of their energy efficiency.
